Creating additional language versions

To create an additional language version of the page, click "Add language" next to the list of languages:

In the window that opens, select the language you want to create and click "Add language":

Do not copy content

If you select "Do not copy content", a new, completely empty version of your site will be created. You can thus create for it the layout that you come up with.

Copy content from

If you select "copy content from" new version of the page will be created as a copy of the selected language. As a result, simply translate text into another language and you have a new version ready.

Adding the language selection menu

To allow users easy selection of the language, we enabled adding to your site languages menu. On the left side of the editor, in the menu under the icon "plus" there is a button that adds the option to switch the language.

Default language

The default language of your website defines which language opens when a person visits your site for the first time. So if you connect your site with domain twojastrona.pl and set the Polish language as the default, then the person visiting your site by typing in the browser address http://twojadomena.pl will see Polish version of your site. Other language versions will be displayed at http://twojadomena.pl/jezyk, eg. English version will be available at http://twojadomena.pl/en

To select the default language page, select the checkbox in the list of languages:

URLs of pages in different languages

Let's say you created a page that has two language versions, Polish and English. Each language version has two pages – the “home page” and “contact us”. Polish language has been set as the default language. You have connected your site with domain mojadomena.pl. URLs of pages will look like this:

For English version:

http://mydomain.com – “home page”

http://mydomain.com/Contact - “contact us”

For other language version (eg. german):

http://mydomain.com/de - “home page”

http://mydomain.com/de/Contact - “contact us”

Removing language version

To remove a language version, open languages window and click the red X next to the language. If you remove the default language, another language will automatically replace it. If the page has only one language you will not be able to remove it:

Fastest way to create additional language versions

After creating a new language version of the page, changes made on one version will not affect other versions. Therefore, to avoid having to make the same changes in the appearance of the page many times, it is best to finish creating one version of this page first. When this version is 100% ready, only then create other language versions by copying the content of the basic version. As a result, the only thing you have to do is to translate texts – you will not have to change anything in the layout of different language versions.
